Belize is an excellent place to settle. There are many beautiful towns and villages all over the country. It is prudent however, to seek advice before purchasing any real estate. The process can be intimidating at times and we can help to make the process less so. We will assist by providing title searches to ensure there are no recorded encumbrances, property taxes are paid and that the title is in order. We also draft and file the necessary documents to ensure proper transfer of the real estate.
Intellectual Property
We provide registration of trademarks and patents and advice on copyright protection. Belize recently updated their intellectual property legislation to be in line with international standards on intellectual property. We can help you secure your ideas, your brand and your creative works.
Family Law
We provide legal advice and representation in relation to divorce, adoptions and other family law matters.
Banking Finance, Tax and Regulatory Advice
We review and draft banking documents including facility agreements, guarantees, mortgages and charges. We provide advice and representation on tax matters in Belize including regulatory advice to clients in the offshore sector.
Corporate and Commercial
We provide corporate and commercial legal advice for both domestic and international transactions including structuring, joint ventures and shareholder agreements. We can also advise on partnerships. We can assist in incorporating domestic limited liability companies, companies limited by guarantee, and limited liability partnerships. We can put you in contact with reputable offshore service providers if you require an international business company, international LLC or international foundation.

We provide representation in all courts in Belize as well as advice and representation in arbitrations and mediation.
Qualified Retired Persons Programme (QRP)
Since 2000, Belize has grown in popularity with retirees from the USA and Europe. This is due to the warm climate, availability of flights from several major US cities and its English-speaking population. The Government has sought to encourage this by offering certain fiscal incentives to retirees through the Retired Persons (Incentives) Act. Qualified Retirees can enjoy legal residency status in Belize as well as duty and tax exemptions on importation of their personal items, their vehicle, light aircraft and boat. We can advise you on the QRP process and guide you every step of the way.

Jose m. Alpuche
Jose M. Alpuche, Esq. qualified as an attorney in Belize in 2011. He was employed as assistant legal counsel for Caribbean Investment Holdings Limited up until December 2018, when he decided to establish his own practice. He obtained his law degree from the University of London in 2005 and completed the Bar Vocational Course in 2009 at the University of the West of England in Bristol, UK.
Jose currently sits on the Board of Directors of Liberty Foundation, a children’s home in Ladyville, Belize. He is also a director of Guadalupe Media, a Catholic radio and television station in Belize City, Belize. He has also served as treasurer of the Bar Association of Belize since 2016.
Janine Ebanks-Alpuche
Janine is the Practice Manager for our firm and is likely the first person you will communicate with when contacting us. Janine worked previously with the Belize Tourism Board in the Product Development Department. She organized large events such as Taste of Belize and the Belize Tourism Awards. She was also responsible for administering the Qualified Retired Persons Programme (QRP).
Janine is responsible for administering our practice as well as providing paralegal services. Our clients find her responsive, friendly and always professional. Apart from being an excellent administrator, she also has a love of cooking and travel. She is also an avid Jane Austen fan.
